INTEGRATIONS

CSV Files

Connect Door Tablet to scheduling systems that export meeting room reservations as simple text or CSV-style files. Bring existing room schedules to digital displays, show availability outside meeting spaces and extend the value of legacy scheduling environments without developing a new API integration.

A practical read-only integration for organisations whose scheduling systems can generate structured meeting room files but do not provide modern calendar APIs.

HOW IT WORKS

From CSV Files to Meeting Room Displays

Your existing scheduling system generates text files containing meeting room reservations. These files are placed in a local folder or network share accessible to the Door Tablet server, which reads the schedules and presents them on connected displays.

Door Tablet displays imported room bookings but does not write new reservations or changes back to the source scheduling system in TXT/CSV mode.

CSV INTEGRATION CAPABILITIES

Make Existing Room Schedules Visible

Extend your scheduling environment with digital room information, without requiring it to expose a modern calendar API.

Room Availability Displays

Present scheduled meetings, current availability and upcoming room reservations outside individual meeting spaces.

Text-Based Schedule Import

Read structured text files from a local folder or network share using a configurable delimiter and documented column format.

Room List Synchronisation

Optionally use a roomlist.txt file to create meeting space records automatically when synchronising resources in Door Tablet.

FILE-BASED INTEGRATION

Keep Your Existing Scheduling System

Some scheduling applications cannot provide reservation data through a web service, but can export it as structured text files. Door Tablet's TXT/CSV integration is designed for exactly this situation.

Your existing system continues to create and manage reservations. It exports meeting schedules into a folder that can be accessed by the Door Tablet server.

Door Tablet reads those files and makes the reservation information visible on supported room displays and wayfinding interfaces, without changing your scheduling workflow.

THE TXT/CSV WORKFLOW

Export Schedules

Generate room reservation files from your existing scheduling application.

Share the Folder

Make the exported files available on a local folder or network share accessible to Door Tablet.

Display Reservations

Show the imported room schedules on Door Tablet displays, without modifying source bookings.

FILE FORMATS

Flexible Ways to Organise Your Schedule Files

Door Tablet supports different text file arrangements, allowing you to select the approach that best suits the export capabilities of your scheduling system.

01

Single Schedule File

Store reservations for multiple meeting spaces in one combined schedule file.

schedule.txt

02

Individual Room Files

Generate a separate file for each resource, using its unique room key as the filename.

roomKey.txt

03

Date-Specific Files

Prepare schedules ahead of time using filenames that include the relevant date.

roomKey_YYYY_MM_DD.txt

Multiple files are recommended for better efficiency. A roomlist.txt file can also be used to import meeting space definitions.

DEPLOYMENT OPTIONS

Choose How You Deploy Door Tablet

Door Tablet offers different server hosting models. For TXT/CSV integration, the essential requirement is that the Door Tablet server can access the folder containing your exported meeting room files.

On-Premise Server

Install Door Tablet within your organisation's infrastructure, with direct access to a local folder or network share containing the schedule files.

Explore On-Premise →

Own Cloud

Host your Door Tablet server in cloud infrastructure managed by your organisation, provided the exported schedule files are accessible to that server.

Explore Own Cloud →

Door Tablet CONNECT

Door Tablet CONNECT offers managed cloud hosting. TXT/CSV compatibility and a supported method of delivering the required files must be confirmed before choosing this option.

For file-based integrations, an on-premise or suitably configured customer-managed server is generally the most straightforward approach. Confirm alternative hosting arrangements before implementation.

GETTING STARTED

Connect Door Tablet Using TXT/CSV Files

Prepare your exported schedule files, configure the shared folder in Door Tablet and verify that your meeting room data is being read correctly.

01

Prepare the Files

Generate room schedule files using the documented column order and delimiter. Optionally create roomlist.txt to define the meeting spaces.

02

Configure the Shared Folder

Place the files in a local folder or network share that the Door Tablet server can access, and enter the folder details in the System Profile.

03

Set the Time Zone

Configure the correct time zone in Door Tablet so that local meeting times from your exported files can be interpreted accurately.

04

Test and Activate Rooms

Test folder access, synchronise meeting spaces where required and verify that reservations appear correctly on the Door Tablet displays.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

What to Know About File-Based Scheduling

The TXT/CSV integration is intentionally simple, but several requirements are important for ensuring that room schedules are displayed correctly.

01

Read-Only Integration

Door Tablet reads and displays meeting schedules but cannot create, modify, extend or cancel appointments in the source system through the TXT/CSV connection.

02

File Naming and Freshness

Standard schedule files must be created or modified on the current day. Date-specific files can be prepared in advance using the documented filename convention.

03

Correct File Structure

Reservations must use the required columns, a consistent delimiter and chronological order. Malformed files may be ignored by the Door Tablet server.

For projects requiring interactive room booking or updates to your scheduling system, consider using the Door Tablet Standard Interface (DTSI) instead.
